Our Story
Issy’s own dancing journey started with lessons in Conon-Bridge with the late Iona Mackenzie and she danced competitively at festivals and the Highland games circuit across Scotland. Isobel was also given the opportunity to travel to Canada to visit her great aunt (accompanied by Melanie’s Mum) where they both competed in a dancing championship in Edmonton Calgary Alberta .
So it was a natural request to ask Melanie to takeover my classes in the Black Isle when my mobility deteriorated.
It was so pleasing to hear of the successes of former pupils , including Leah, Kirsty and Amy on winning their pre-championship and competing at the prestigious Cowal Highland Gathering with the Melanie McKay school of Highland Dancing.
It was a very wet year !
Now Isobel is back supporting Melanie as she has accepted and adapted to living with a diagnosis of MS since 2009.
Both Melanie and Issy were delighted to be able to share the moment when Amy ( a former pupil ) passed her Associate teachers exam last year.
Issy enjoys sharing her knowledge and passion for Highland as she continues to support the youngsters of the McKay school of Highland Dancing as she encourages the youngsters as they learn new steps and new dances as they start out on their own Highland Dancing journey.
